Pearls of Wisdom:

"Good Habits formed at youth, make all the difference" and "Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work." ~ Aristotle, Greek Philosopher and Scientist

Good day Scouts, Scouters and Parents,

As the month of October starts, let us extend a hand to our neighbors and friends with boys and invite them to join Scouting!  Every boy deserves a program like the Boy Scouts of America!  I'd also like to take the time to highlight another Scouting program so we don't forget about the young ladies in our families….Scouting has a place for them as well…it’s called Venturing.

What is Venturing?

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13 and have completed the eighth grade, or age 14 through 20 years of age.  Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens. Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocation or hobby interests.

To Learn more, Go to http://www.alamoareabsa.org/Join/Venturing/ and http://www.alamoareabsa.org/scouting/venturing/scoutadventuresisters/

And, if our young ladies join soon, they can participate at this upcoming Venturing event, http://www.alamoareabsa.org/Events/VenturingChallengeCupandOpenHouse2015

Have a wonderful October!

Yours in Scouting,

Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive
