SEPT-OCT: Let's Do Some High Adventure at Powder Horn!

What are you doing in September and October? How would you like to do some Shotgun, Rifle/Pistol or even Black Powder shooting!  How about Archery, Tomahawk throwing, BMX/Mountain-Biking, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Log-rolling, Fly Fishing, Canoeing/Kayaking, Land Navigation, Geocaching, Pioneering, or flying via Zip-line!  The opportunity for High COPE, Life-Sized Foosball, Low COPE, Climbing, Rappelling, Fire-building, Lashing, Moulage, Astronomy Gazing, or going on a Backpacking Excursion is possible. Or learning and doing Scouting Services, Utensil-less, Dutch Oven or Backpack Cooking, and Branding; as well as get information on National High Adventure Programs, Outdoor Ethics (formerly known as Leave no Trace), Wilderness Survival, Ecology, the History of Bear Creek, Emergency Preparation, Climb on Safely, Trek on Safely, Wilderness First Aid, Expedition Planning, and Caving? Sounds like FUN?

If you would like to get in on this fun, hands-on experience and learn about how to provide these high adventure activities to your unit, then YOU need to sign up for the Alamo Area Council’s Powder Horn 2016 opportunity, by clicking on the link on the right side of this page. Powder Horn 2016 takes place over two full weekends, Sep. 23-25 and Oct. 7-9, 2016, at Bear Creek Scout Reservation!

Although Powder Horn 2016 is already full, you can still get on the waiting list! Typically, some folks have to drop from the Course and an equal number of people on the waiting list get to attend! Additionally, we are talking to Council about making Powder Horn an annual course (instead of every two years)! Questions? Contact Matt Dooley, Course Director, at [Click for member's page] or (210) 705-2417, or Paul Gallo, Asst. Course Director -- Program, at or (210) 857-0325!
