CPR/AED and Wilderness and Remote First Aid TrainingIn August 2009, Boy Scouts came to each other's aid after a tornado killed 4 scouts and injured 48 at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch in Iowa. This is a dramatic example of why scouts are required to complete training in CPR/AED and Wilderness and Remote First Aid (W&RFA) before participating in High Adventure Activities. The purpose of the W&RFA training is to provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response. This includes wilderness and remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes. Certification in Adult CPR/AED is required to enter the W&RFA training. To ensure that ample trainings are available to Alamo Area Council members, trainings will be held at Council on the following dates: CPR/AED: Mondays, 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Cost: $65.0026 September, 2016 14 November, 2016 WRFA: Fridays, 5:30 PM - 11:00 PM and Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Cost: $140.00 (price includes books and meals)20 September - 1 October, 2016 18-19 November, 2016 Registration for the Training is available on the Council Training Calendar, or click on the registration links to the right.
