Competitive shooters and shooting teams are athletes and need to be coached like any other athlete. The goal of the Level 1 course is to provide individuals and coaches the knowledge, skills and confidence to coach beginning and intermediate shotgun shooting athletes and efficiently conduct team operations.

The course is divided into classroom sessions and a range session. This is not the Basic Shotgun Instructor course, where students are taught generally one time to learn knowledge, skills, and attitude for safe shotgun handling. The coach will have a long-term involvement with athletes, providing leadership, character development and creation of better citizens as they learn how to compete as professionals. BIT is not required, no minimum shooting skill test.
