The Council PR Scribe Patrol

The Boy Scouts of America serves Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers from a wide array of backgrounds, so we want to see everyone represented.  The Council PR Scribe Patrol (CPRSP), open to all youth, launched Spring 2014 as the Alamo Area Council's peer-to-peer marketing initiative to enlist “local Scout youth story-collectors and story-tellers."

The CPRSP will be called upon throughout the school year for Public Relations opportunities that may include being greeters at Scouting events or supporting the collection and submission of stories to our local media outlets or within our own website or newsroom.  There will be multiple PR opportunities and even casting calls for our Scout model/actors.

Do you know a Scout with charisma and an interest in Communications, Marketing, Photography, Videography, or public speaking?  Do you know a Scout youth ready and willing to help represent our Scouting movement in the best possible way?

Contact the PR Department of the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council to express your Scouts' interest by emailing to PR@AlamoAreaBSA.org or by contacting Angel Martinez, Communications & Marketing Director, at 210-341-8611 Ext 160:

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after my Scout expresses his/her interest?

Once your Scout participates in a mock interview and our Marketing Department receives all the required paperwork (primarily a signed talent release and a data info sheet), your Scout will be considered for an official spot within the Alamo Area Council’s Public Relations Scribe Patrol (CPRSP)

How does my Scout and family know about PR Opportunities once we are considered part of CPRSP?

All initial e-mails will provide the necessary information for a parent/guardian to determine whether or not a child is available to participate in the opportunity, such as uniform requirements, location of event and expected time commitment. If your son or daughter is interested and available to participate in an opportunity, simply reply to the e-mail by the deadline (specific to each opportunity.) Once the interest deadline has passed, the marketing team will look at the list of all youth interested and will select based on past participation, PR need, and grade level.  Selected Scouts will be notified by e-mail or phone call.  Scouts not selected will be notified by e-mail.

Once selected for a PR opportunity, you will receive a second e-mail from our marketing team with all of the event details at least one day before the event.

Dear Scouts –

Please review the PR Opportunity below.

18th Annual Boy Scout Charity Golf Classic sponsored by Cram Roofing  - Ten to fifteen Boy Scouts and/or Venturers are needed to help greet golfers and provide assistance for the days event at Oak Hills Country Club on Monday, October 28 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.  Official uniform is required.  If interested, simply reply to this email no later than Wednesday, September 25.  Boy Scouts and Ventures will be selected based on past participation, PR need, and grade level.  An additional email will follow regarding this opportunity no later than October 20.

What if the PR Opportunity conflicts with my kid's school day?

The Alamo Area Council believes education and a youth's learning should always be a priority.  Participation by Scouts within any PR Opportunity that may be during school hours is always dependent on whether the youth is maintaining good grades and has the support of his family and the school.  All PR Opportunities are considered learning events where Marketing team will work with Scout youth to understand basic educational elements of any PR event involvement.
