Scoutreach Program Leader

The Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America has immediate openings for youth program leaders working within our Scoutreach In-School and After-School programs.  The Scoutreach Division of the Alamo Area Council gives special leadership and emphasis to urban and rural Scouting programs.   Scoutreach is the BSA’s commitment to ensure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances.   This program caters to boys from 1st through 5th grades (ages 6-11 years old).  For additional information, visit the Scoutreach page at

Pay / Schedule 

  • The starting pay is $9.00 per hour.
  • The hours are flexible and range from approximately 10-24 hours per week.
  • Programs are conducted at various locations including Edgewood, South San Antonio, Southwest, Harlandale and Northside school districts.
  • In-School programs are held during school days between 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. as part of their PE class.  Sessions run approximately 45 minutes long.
  • After-School programs are held at the elementary schools in partnership with organizations like Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, YWCA, and Learning Tree starting as early as 4:00 p.m. and ending as late as 5:00 p.m. 

Qualifications - All applicants must: 

  • Be at least 21 years of age 
  • Register as a volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America
  • Take Youth Protection Training
  • Pass a background check and be fingerprinted (cost paid by BSA) 
  • Have reliable means of transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
