Exploring Youth Prepared for Careers in Fire thru Competition

Fire and Emergency Services Exploring Competition in Helotes was a Blast

The Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council and the Helotes Fire Department invited all Exploring Fire and Emergency Services Posts to participate in the 4th Annual Alamo Area Council Fire Exploring Competition on Saturday, April 2, 2016.

"We're at the Alamo Area Fire Exploring Competition...I'm with the Blazing Broncos and we are here hoping to win some trophies," said Dalton Fraley, Fire Exploring Post 1215 youth leader and also a Boy Scout working on his Eagle Scout rank.

Over 47 of the finest Fire Explorers in the area were tested in: Bunker Gear Drills, Obstacle Courses, Three-Person Race, Four-Person Race, and the Bucket Brigade.  Family and community supporters witnessed Exploring youth battle for Best Overall Individual and Best Overall Team trophies. 

"We had a great turnout with teams from Brandeis High School here in San Antonio...Kennedy, Harlandale High School, Bulverde Spring Branch, and also LBJ out of Austin," said Rick Wall, Senior Captain with the Helotes Fire Department.
