Grand Opening of Boy Scouts New Scout Camp

Mays Family Scout Ranch Provides New Adventures to Serve More of SA’s Youth

Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council’s (BSA) newest Scout camp, The Mays Family Scout Ranch (MFSR), had its Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Self-guided tours of the new 75-acre Scout camp, located along the Medina River, were available. BSA staff were at the different buildings and locations on the Scout camp to explain the facilities uses. A variety of program areas will be open for the opportunity to sample what Scouts will experience at the MFSR.

The property is located just off of State Highway 16, south of Lone Star Pass on the city’s Southside.  MFSR is home to many large cypress, oak, and pecan trees, various wildlife, and the high river banks provide spectacular views. Access to the Medina River Natural Area across the river will also be accessible.
