New Cub Scout Program in 2015

With the new Cub Scout Program starting in June, 2015, here is a few links to help understand the program and get acclimated to it.

by Chelsey Luster for the Alamo Area BSA: April 9, 2015

Below is a helpful guide on the program.  Click the picture to go directly to the site to print out.

Below is the price list for handbooks, leader books, and new belt loops and pins.  Click the picture to get full size to print.

Keep in mind, books will be available May 1, 2015 and advancement will be available June, 2015.  The biggest change will be when to hand out awards.  This program pushes instant recognition.  That means, instead of giving out awards at pack meetings, they will be given out as soon as the boys earn them.  Den leaders will need to have a supply of belts loops and pins on hand before the boys earn the award.  They will hand out the loop/pin as soon as they earn it.

Here is a list of items that will be no longer available:

recognition kits (beads)

gold and silver arrow points

Tiger Cub rank emblem will change (so will belt buckle, neckerchief, slide, and cap)

New requirements will be out for the following:

National Den Award

National Summertime Pack Award

Cub Scout World Conservation Award

Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award

4th grade Webelos (2014-15 year) have the option to stay in the same program next year (instead of starting the new book).  If your pack decides to stay with the old program with this particular boys, the academic & sports program will still be around, as well as the Webelos pin they currently are earning.  After this group finishes with the program, all academic & sports belts, Webelos compass patches/pins, Super Achiever patches, and Webelos pins (badges) will be discontinued.
