Scouting Updates From The Director Of Scouting Services - October 2015

2,802 Youth Are Needing a Home and Family

By John Echevarria for the Alamo Area BSA; October 2, 2015

Hello,

Join us in celebrating all the success we are having as a Scouting movement in serving the new youth and parents entering our program since the start of the school year.

Then, please help us in welcoming the 1,251 new youth, along with their parents, into our Scouting family.

Our Fall membership recruitment efforts we call “Rocket into Scouting” must continue with urgency so that no youth is denied the opportunity to enjoy the values of Scouting.  Please support our Rocket in Scouting efforts though your local recruitment night at your nearest school called "Roundups".

We highly encourage you to contact your Scout Service Executive (DE) so that you all can get together and come up with a date where you and your pack can continue holding recruitment Roundups. Our updated target is to reach an additional 2,802 new cub scouts and their families by Thanksgiving.  Our youth and communities need us!

Each new recruited Cub Scout in grades 1st-5th will continue to receive a free ESTES Rocket that can be launched at the next New Cub Scout Adventure Day 2015, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at McGimsey Scout Park.  Every new recruit can also enjoy archery, BB guns, nature, arts and crafts and games. The cost is only $8.  Visit the following event link for more details and to register today:

  • Wednesday, October 20th vs. Phoenix Suns
