Scouting Updates From The Director Of Scouting Services - September 2015

Echevarria talks about Rocket Into Scouting and more

By John Echevarria for the Alamo Area BSA; September 9, 2015

My name is John Echevarria and I am the new Director of Scouting Services. I am responsible for the success of all scouting operations and programs. Although I am new to this position, I have been with the Alamo Area Council for eight years and have 20 years of scouting experience. I am happy to continue to serve our youth and their families.

We are now four weeks into the new school year and are continuing our “Rocket into Scouting” Roundup. Each new recruited cub scout in grades 1st-5th will receive a free ESTES Rocket that can be launched at the New Cub Scout Adventure Day 2015, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at McGimsey Park and on September 26, 2015 at Mays Family Scout Ranch. Every new recruit can also enjoy archery, BB guns, swimming, nature, arts and crafts and games. The cost is only $8.

Visit the following event link for more details and to register today:

I highly encourage you to contact your Scout Service Executive (DE) so that you all can get together and come up with a date where you and your pack can hold your recruitment Roundup. Our target recruit is 4,000 new cub scouts and their families.

Yours in Scouting,

John Echevarria, Director of Scouting Services
