SCOUTS BSA CAMP CARD SALE SUPPORTS ADVENTURES FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Alamo Area Council’s Discount Value Card features local retailers while helping our Youth get Outdoors

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 28, 2019) – In its seventh year, the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council will launch their discount card fundraiser called Camp Cards on Friday, March 1, 2019 with top sales professionals from Cub Scout Pack 239. Media is invited at 8:15 a.m. on March 1stto see Scout youth sell the first Camp Card of the season to Tyler Rubio, Store manager at the McCoy’s Building Supply located at 1025 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, Texas 78148.

“We are here to show support for McCoy’s, one of our local retail partners on the 2019 Camp Card, because without great community partners, the Boy Scouts of America can’t maximize our positive effect into the lives of our youth,” said Angel Martinez, Chief Storyteller for the local Alamo Area Council, BSA.

The Camp Card, an award-winning fundraising program, is a risk-free way for Scout units to earn their way to summer camp, day camps, high adventure outings, or other activities. The Alamo Area Council Camp Cards, which first sold in 2013, will sell for only $5 to the public and will offer discounts at several area businesses, including restaurants, entertainment venues, and service vendors for the customer to use and reuse throughout 2019. Each participating Scout unit will keep 50% commission of the sales total for each Camp Card sold.

“Like camping and outdoor adventure, selling a product like the Camp Card prepares our youth to face the world with a heart of service, commitment, and leadership to find success. Please support our youth by purchasing a Camp Card for yourself and another as a gift so that we can keep supporting all youth for many years to come,” said Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council, based in San Antonio, Texas.

Look for Scouts selling Camp Cards at local businesses and within neighborhoods in San Antonio and the 12 surrounding counties served by the Council.  Camp Cards may also be purchased at either of the Council Offices to benefit under-served youth in the program. The sale will last for twelve weeks until Saturday, May 10, 2019.
