Spurs Scout Night Provides Unique Behind the Scenes Fun

Spurs Win over the Wizards

by Angel Martinez for the Alamo Area BSA: January 7, 2015

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Washington Wizards on Saturday, January 3, 2015, during the Spurs Scout night.  The event provided unique behind the scenes fun and learning for over 450 Scouts and their families.

The special Scout Package offered exclusive ticket options for scout members, families, and friends that included a hot dog, soda, and bag of chips.  The pre-game special guest speaker, Spurs manager and Eagle Scout, shared his experiences in Scouting as a youth and how he has applied the values of Scouting within his work at the Spurs organization.

Youth ended the night in shooting post game free throws on the same Spurs court where Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli, and Tony Parker bring their game.

Scout Nights are exciting times of Scout participation with San Antonio's professional sports teams, and other council coordinated adventure offerings found within our local community.  Many Scout Nights include "behind the scenes" adventure OR admission to a Camp Out right before or immediately following the event.  The Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council has several Scout Night community partner relationships like the Spurs organization.

Thanks to the Spurs organization, a portion of ticket sales support Scouting programs council wide.  To learn more, visit the Scout nights page at for upcoming Scout nights events and other information.
