Unit Money Earning Project Application Form

Help Finance Your Program Using Proper Process

by Angel Martinez for the Alamo Area BSA: 12/11/2018

Dear Scouters,

As we prepare to embark upon a new year in Scouting, with many new volunteer scout leaders, one of the important elements of successful units is the unit money-earning program that is provided for Scout units to help finance their activities and to help make Scouting accessible to every youth, regardless of financial capacity.

For all of our newly registered leaders, and for those who return for another year of outdoor adventures, I've attached the current version of the Unit Money-Earning Project Application Form. This a requirement in the process for approval of all unit-money-earning projects.

The guidelines clearly articulate the distinction between money-earning projects and fund-raising. As the guidelines note, solicitation of any kind--for funds, products, services, or gifts-in-kind--is prohibited by individual youth, adults, units, and chartered partner organizations on behalf of local, unit, council, national, or international activities and events.

If you have questions in that regard, please direct them to Jay Ghormley, Development Director-Product Sales, at 210-464-6643 (M), or by email

Jay will be succeeding me at year's end as I transition to retirement form the professional Scouting ranks.

It has been a pleasure to serve you over that last 15 years here in the Alamo Area Council. All the best to you as you continue your service to youth here.
