Post 816 - San Antonio, TX

Explore the Exciting Field of Aviation

Aviation Exploring Post 816 was founded in 2001. The Post is sponsored by The Partnership for Corporate Aviation Training and meets at the Valero Energy Corporation Aviation Department located at the San Antonio International Airport. The meetings are usually held on the second Saturday morning and fourth Sunday evening of each month.

The Saturday field trips have included visits to Boerne Stage Gliders,, Randolph and Lackland Air Force Bases, behind-the-scenes tours at San Antonio International Airport, National Weather Service, Texas Air Museum, UPS, FedEx, private aircraft collections, regional Air Shows, Southwest Airlines Reservation Center, Boeing and other facilities at Kelly/Port San Antonio, Kingsville Naval Air Station, Lockheed Martin, and many more. We have learned so much from the Sunday evening guest speakers. The range of our guests have been from World War II pilots to astronauts, women who have flown in Powder Puff derbies and Airline stewardesses from the past , FedEx pilots, student pilots, developers of space simulators and the GPS system, developers and engineers of aircraft, directors of airports, and inventors of aircraft maintenance products. The list goes on and on.

Membership is open to boys and girls from the ages of 14-21 and parents have as much fun and learning at the meetings as well. Cost is only $33 per year. There is no uniform required and there is no advancement work (as compared to a Boy Scout or Girl Scout Troop.) We do not compete with your Scout, Band, or Sports activities. Come when you can. If you want to see what we are up to now and in the past, our news leatters are advailable on our files and downloads page. For further information, please call – Dr. Ed Benson, post advisor at 210-491-9910 Joel Albert, committee chairman, 210-342-7710
