RSVP to the 2018 Good Scout Luncheon honoring Joe Gorder

The “Good Scout” Award (GSA) is presented annually to a deserving individual at the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council's largest special event, the Good Scout Award Luncheon.  Started in 1982, this prestigious local award will list past Good Scout Award Honorees including majority Spurs owner, Peter Holt, former President, George W. Bush, General Colin Powell, Governor Rick Perry, and Spurs legend, David Robinson.  

The GSA recognition is presented to those who exemplify in their daily life the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. Recipients are chosen for their outstanding community service, as evidenced by their leadership to many worth-while organizations, as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.

The 2018 Good Scout Award will be presented to Joe Gorder on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Norris Conference Center located at 618 NW Loop 410 #207, San Antonio, TX 78216. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 am with guest arriving at 11:15 for the pre-luncheon reception to check-in and take photographs with Mr. Gorder. 

2018's recipient of the Good Scout Award is Joe Gorder.  

Joe Gorder serves as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valero Energy Corporation. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of the Board on December 31, 2014 and Chief Executive Officer on May 1, 2014, Mr. Gorder served as Chief Operating Officer and President, responsible for refining operations and commercial operations in marketing, supply, logistics and transportation. He was previously Chief Commercial Officer and President of Valero Europe.

Gorder also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Valero Energy Partners LP and is on the Board of Directors of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. He also serves as Executive Committee member of the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM).

A native of Missouri, Joe earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a master’s degree in business administration from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Joe and his wife, Lacie, have two children and six grandchildren.
