Summer is just about six weeks away and kids all over the district are getting ready for school to end.  What that means to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and their leaders is IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR SUMMER CAMP!

Texas Hills Cub Scout Day Camp will run from June 11 - 14.  Contact Linda Marshall at (830) 377-1264 or [Click for member's page] or visit the website at for more info.

Boy Scouts have many choices for Summer Camp.  Most Troops start planning for summer camp in the fall or mid-winter; sometimes even right after they have returned from the last summer camp!  Our local camp is Bear Creek Scout Reservation located on the scenic Bear Creek west of Hunt.  Registration fees are due May 1.  Bear Creek operates weekly sessions starting June 16.  Go to the Bear Creek Scout Reservation web site for more information:

Other Summer Camps in our area are:  Lost Pines SR, Bastrop (Capitol Area Council); El Rancho Cima, (Sam Houston Area Council).

Troops can also participate in a High Adventure experience at Northern Tier, Charles L. Sommers Canoe Base, Ely, Minnesota; Florida Sea Base; or Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico.

This July troops and venturing crews are heading to the newest High Adventure Camp at The Summit Bechtel Family Scout Reserve in West Virginia for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.

At whatever level of Scouting you are participating, GO CAMPING!

Let your District Camping Chairman, Darlene Karthauser ([Click for member's page]), know where your pack or troop is headed this summer.

Hope to see you at one of these events this summer!
