Guide to Merit Badge Counselors

New Merit Badge Counselors required to submit both MBC Application and BSA Adult Application to Scout Service Center. 

By serving as a Merit Badge Counselor (MBC), you offer your time, knowledge, and other resources so that Boy Scouts can explore a topic of interest.  Whatever your area of expertise or interest—whether it is a special craft or hobby (basketry, leatherwork, coin collecting), a profession (veterinary medicine, aviation, engineering), or perhaps a life skill (cooking, personal management, communications)—as a counselor, you play a vital role in supporting future leaders.

All new MBC's will need to register with the Boy Scouts of America, through the Alamo Area Council by completing, and turning in the "Adult Application" AND filling out a MBC application Every applicant is screened, and the normal turn around time is usually two weeks (or less). Currently registered MBC will be receiving a postcard and email by October 31, 2017 for renewal for 2018. Renewals must be completed by December 22, 2017 or both applications will have to be resubmitted.
