Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council's performance recognition program for units is named after Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell.  BP's spirit is alive and well in our local community.  Learn more below or online at

Recognition and BP Status Benefits

Baden Powell units will receive the following recognition and benefits:

  • Adventure Guide announcement
  • Council website and newsletter shout out 
  • FREE Baden Powell recognition strip (attaches to new 2018 Council Shoulder Patch)
  • Facility Rental Voucher for FREE Unit Weekend Campout at an Alamo Area Council Property*, and
  • 5% Discounted pricing to all Alamo Area Council camping events 

10 Achievements to Becoming a Baden Powell Unit? 

  • As a Baden Powell unit, we used the methods of Scouting: Patrol, Ideals, Outdoors, Advancement, Association with Adults, Personal Growth, Leadership, and Uniform as exhibited by Unit making application for Journey to Excellence Award
  • In addition to having our registered leaders trained (YPT, Leader Specific), we had at least one leader complete one of the following: (1.) Take Weather Hazards Training (Online http://my.Scouting.orgExternal Link) (2.) Take Safety Afloat (Online) (3.) Take Safe Swim Defense (Online) (4.) Read and be knowledgeable about the Guide to Safe Scouting (Online) (5.) BALOO trained for Packs
  • We conducted an Annual Adventure Planning Conference (AAPC) to plan our unit activities and budget.
  • We educated every family and offered them the opportunity to participate in the Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign.
  • We had our youth participate in an approved Alamo Area Council outdoor adventure held at either McGimsey, Mays, Bear Creek, or Alamo Area Council run camp.
  • We participated in at least one service projects last year, like Scouting for Food, and recorded itonline at Good Turn for America.
  • We tracked our youth advancement using Scoutbook (or similar application) and upload to online Internet Advancement program. (FREE)
