Biography

John Echevarria, a professional scouter for 20 years, was recently the managing senior professional over the Scoutreach Service Center on S. Zarzamora, as the Field Director of El Sur service area at the Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.  As of August 1, 2015 John was promoted to Director of Field Services for the Alamo Area Council.

Mr. Echevarria’s responsibilities include management, support, and oversight for all the district operations for the council and all the programs which include Scoutreach, Project Aguila and Learning For Life.

Prior to being part of the Alamo Area Council, Mr. Echevarria served successfully in various responsibilities at the Puerto Rico Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Echevarria also supports the council’s High Adventure program as the professional advisor, and leads the Southside camping initiative.  The goal is to have new Scouts in economically challenged areas attend Bear Creek at no cost to their families so that no youth is denied Scouting’s influence on the basis of financial need.

John lives in San Antonio with his beautiful wife Mila, their two lovely daughters, and two energetic 6 year old  twin boys.  One of his daughters is studying to be a Surgical Tech and the other is married and about to make John and Mila happy grandparents.
