  • JUN: 2018 Swim Checks and Lessons

    The swim classification of individuals participating in water activities is a key element of the BSA’s Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. Swim classification tests (swim checks) should be renewed annually at the beginning of the outdoor season and are required for any Scout attending Boy Scout Camp. The Alamo Area Council offers swim lessons to Scouts (ages 6+) as well as swim checks.

  • MAY: Cubs Discover Camping Skills at Bear Creek

    All Cub Scouts are invited to attend the annual Cub Discovery Camp at the Bear Creek Scout Reservation. This year’s theme is Cub Scout Camping Skills. Bring your tent and camp in the Bear Creek valley while you learn and practice important camping skills for Scouts and have FUN! NOTE: This event is for Scouts and a parent.

    Wolves and Bears, along with a parent, are invited to attend the annual Cub Scout Resident Camp at the Mays Family Scout Ranch.

    Every April, downtown San Antonio becomes the site of a citywide celebration – the Battle of Flowers® Parade. Since 1891, the women volunteer members of the Battle of Flowers® Association have produced a parade to honor the fallen heroes of the Alamo and to commemorate the victory at the battle of San Jacinto.

  • Spring Cub Scout Shooting Sports 2018

    Cub Scouts will have the opportunity to earn their Archery, BB Gun, and Slingshot Activity Badge and Pins during an hour and a half session atthe McGimsey Ranges. You will have lots of shooting time, learn about parts of a BB Gun, Archery Bow, Slingshot firing, create your own range targets, and learn about the history of famous Archers and Air Rifle Enthusiasts.
