The Alamo Area Council plays host to many events throughout the year.  Please review our featured events listed below, and see the other event sections on this website listed at the bottom of the page; OR check the Council Calendar for a full listing of all events and activities. Also see the Training Calendar (under Calendar) for training events.

If you are a Scout Volunteer leader involved with supporting a council or district event, please work with your District Executive or Council Staff Advisor to request eRegistration, to have your event registration setup online.  You can also email for details or request the form at

  • APR-DEC: Mays Family Scout Ranch Programs

    The Mays Family Scout Ranch is offering the new Cub Scout Adventure programs and Boy Scout Merit Badges for the 2017 year. We are offering 16 programs this year for Cubs and Boys Scouts to come out and participate in. Please review details on the calendar and sign up before it fills up.   • 2017 Boerne Day Camp Has A New Location

    The Alamo Area Council Outdoor Adventure Center announces a new location for the 2017 Boerne area Cub Scout Day Camp.
  • Day Camp for Tiger Scouts

    Calling all new Tiger Cubs! Tiger Cubs are new Scouts who will be entering the First Grade in the Fall of 2017. We have a special Day Camp just for you and a parent at the McGimsey Scout Park. Join us for two days of outdoor Cub Scout fun: swimming, hiking, visits to the BB and Archery ranges, games and crafts. You and your parents will also learn more about being a Cub Scout.
  • APR - Scouts Support 2017 Battle of Flowers Parade

    Every April, downtown San Antonio becomes the site of a citywide celebration – the Battle of Flowers® Parade. Since 1891, the women volunteer members of the Battle of Flowers® Association have produced a parade to honor the fallen heroes of the Alamo and to commemorate the victory at the battle of San Jacinto.
  • McGimsey Day Camp 2.0 - New Camp Staff Structure

    The Knight’s Quest Day Camps held at the McGimsey Scout Park in 2017 will feature an updated staff structure. The McGimsey Day Camps will be led by a paid staff assisted by volunteer Boy Scouts. The new leadership structure will free parents to attend as observers and remove the 1:5 ratio of adult:scouts for attending Scouts/units.

  • REGISTER TODAY - 5th Annual Camp Card Sale Starts February 24, 2017

    It’s that time of year for the Alamo Area Council's 5th Annual Camp Card Sale and hopefully our best yet. Over the past four years the participating units have sold 226,673 cards and earned OVER $1.1 Million for Scout camping, activities, and Council programs. Is your unit ready to join in on this extremely easy money-earning opportunity?
  • JUN-JUL: Parents: What is your Cub Scout doing this Summer?

    Do you want to focus some of your Cub Scout's energy towards positive activities? Do you want him to be outdoors and come home dirty and tired? Would you like him to have fun while making friends and developing quality character traits? If you answered "Yes!" to any, or all, of these questions then your Cub Scout needs to attend Day Camp 2017!
  • Camperships Available for 2017 Summer Camps

    The Alamo Area Council provides Camperships, up to 50% of the Early Bird Registration Fees, for Scouts in need who wish to attend summer camp. Confidential Campership requests may be submitted on line.
  • APR-MAY: In-Person Cub Scout Day Camp Registration Opportunities

    Registration for all 2017 Day Camps will be made online; several opportunities for in-person registration are available for those with limited online access. Council Staff will be available at several locations to enter online individual and unit Day Camp registrations. Computers and assistance will be available.
  • JUN-JUL: Boy Scout Counselor-In-Training Opportunities

    Boy Scouts are needed to fill 50-70 Counselor-In-Training positions during Cub Scout Day Camps at the McGimsey Scout Park.
  • JUN: All Families are Invited to the Great American Campout (GAC)

    National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Campout is a summer-long celebration of camping as a way to connect with nature and wildlife. The Alamo Area Council is hosting a Public Event in support of the Great American Campout.
  • MAY: Learning for Life Field Days 2017

    The Learning for Life Field Day 2017 (LFL) is free to South San ISD 5th graders who participate in the Learning for Life program of the Alamo Area Council.     The Alamo Area Council Outdoor Adventure Center is now accepting Cub Scout Day Camp Staff applications for the McGimsey Scout Park. The McGimsey Day Camps will feature a new staff structure in 2017. Boy Scouts and Adults are encouraged to apply. Application Deadline is January 15, 2017.

  • MAY-JUL: 2017 Swim Checks and Lessons

    The swim classification of individuals participating in water activities is a key element of the BSA’s Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. Swim classification tests (swim checks) should be renewed annually at the beginning of the outdoor season and are required for any Scout attending Boy Scout Camp. The Alamo Area Council offers swim lessons to Scouts (ages 6+) as well as swim checks.
  • NOV: Troops: Save the Date, Serve as an Example - Web-O-Ree 2017

    Troops are needed for the 2017 Web-O-Ree at McGimsey Scout Park. Boy Scouts will demonstrate Scouting skills and the Patrol Method to Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts. Save the dates on your Troop calendar: October 17-19, 2017.
