Eagle boards are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Harlandale United Methodist Church located at 6025 S Flores St #2158, San Antonio, TX 78214.
The Eagle Board Process
As you may already know, the Eagle board process is a two-step process: Project Proposal Review and the Final Project Review. You cannot begin working your project until you have completed the first step of Project Proposal Review. After you have successfully completed this step, then you may begin working on your project.
Before going to your Eagle Board, you will be requested to bring a copy of your Eagle Workbook to the Fiesta District Roundtable. An adult member of the advancement committee will review your workbook to be sure all paperwork is in place and required signatures are present.
If your workbook is approved, you will need to bring 3 copies of the workbook to your board of review.
Project Proposal Review
During the this stage the review board will look through your workbook. They will be checking for signatures from your Unit Leader, Committee Chair and the Beneficiary.
If you are doing fund raising to help with the cost of the project, they will be reviewing the fund raising application for appropriate fund raising activity and necessary signatures.
They will review your project plan and ask you questions to be sure you have covered all aspects of your project from safety and emergency plan to supply lists and materials needed.
Make sure you are logging all of the time you spend on your plan.
Tips for Success
Take your workbook to the roundtable preceeding your board so it can be reviewed and you are assured that everything is in place before going to your board. You don’t want to be turned away because you are missing critical signatures or information about your plan.
Work closely with your unit leadership and a trusted mentor that can guide you through filling out the workbook and developing a solid plan.
Have trusted adults review your plan and ask you questions about it, sort of like a mock board of review, to help prepare you for the real board of review.
Come with a cheerful spirit and Be Prepared to tell us about your project.
Final Project Review
Before you can apply for the final review, you must submit your Eagle application to the Alamo Area Council registrar for certification. Currently the registrar is Melissa Moore. You may email or call her at (210) 341-7641 if needed. She will ask that you mail or hand deliver your application to her at the council office (2226 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78213).
Please allow two weeks for the certification process to complete. Once the registrar has completed certification, you will be notified to proceed with scheduling your final board of review.
After you receive notice from the registrar that you are approved to proceed with your final board, please email Gerardo Mechler to schedule a time for your final review. Once he receives your request, he will email you with your appointment time.
Tips for Success
Bring 3 printed copies of your completed project workbook to the board.
Spend some time reflecting on your project. Ask yourself, How did it go? What would I have done differently? What was the hardest part? What have I learned?
