Scouting for Food is a region-wide food drive led by local Boy Scouts of America with the goal of collecting 25,000 pounds of food for those in need, with a focus on teaching youth how to give back to their communities. We are proud to continue this partnership with HEB, USAA, and The San Antonio Food Bank.
Follow these FOUR steps for a successful experience:
Step 1: Pick up preprinted bags for your Unit
Bags will be available for pick up during normal business hours beginning Monday, September 27 until October 7, 2021.
Determine how many bags your unit will need for your neighborhood, or a count per Scout prior to your arrival.
Step 2: Distribute the bags in your neighborhood
Distribution should take place after you have your bags, and can be scheduled however it works best for your unit.
Step 3: Collect the Donations from the area you distributed bags
Step 4: Bring Donations to the Alamo Area Council Service Center
Collection is Saturday, October 16 between the hours 9am-2pm
Address: 2226 SW Military Drive, San Antonio, TX
The San Antonio Food Truck will be there to receive your collections.
What if we can’t make it on Saturday, October 16?
Donations are always welcome at the SA Food Bank! When you take your donations there, make sure to tell them that your donation is part of the Scouting for Food Campaign to be included in the total weigh-in.
