Recently, Star Scout, Tyler Krueger coordinated with McGimsey Scout Park’s Camp Ranger, Billy Koors, and Campmaster Robert Klekar, to complete 3-hours of conservation service to continue on his trail to Eagle.
With three campgrounds in the greater San Antonio Area, the Council has a list of projects waiting for helping hands! At McGimsey, bamboo has overtaken the camp in several spaces. You may have seen it during your last visit there. As such, Tyler saw the need to remove it, and he cheerfully set himself to task. The bamboo in maintenance yard area towered the Scout. “Will they even fit on the trailer?” He asked. Over eight feet tall, it took three hours for Tyler to load two trailers worth of bamboo and other brush in this area. “I can not believe how tall some of these are!” Tyler admitted.
If you’re wondering if that bamboo fit on the trailers, yes, they did.
If you have any Scouts needing to complete service hours, our Camp Rangers would love to hear from you. Not only are you giving of yourself, but giving back to our Camps and Scouting Community!
