By serving as a Merit Badge Counselor (MBC), you offer your time, knowledge, and other resources so that Boy Scouts can explore a topic of interest. Whatever your area of expertise or interest—whether it is a special craft or hobby (basketry, leatherwork, coin collecting), a profession (veterinary medicine, aviation, engineering), or perhaps a life skill (cooking, personal management, communications)—as a counselor, you play a vital role in supporting future leaders.
All new MBC’s will need to register with the Boy Scouts of America, through the Alamo Area Council by completing, and turning in the “Adult Application” AND filling out a NEW MBC application. Every applicant is screened, and the normal turn around time is usually two weeks (or less).

Merit Badge Counselor Renewal Form
The 2020 Merit Badge Counselor renewal process is now complete. If you would like to become a Merit Badge Counselor you will need to fill out the Adult application as well as the Merit Badge Counselor Application and submit that to the council, if you are a current Merit Badge Counselor and would like to add or delete badges from your profile, please fill out the Merit Badge Counselor application with your changes.
