Get Ready For The Races!!!

Come and get your Pinewood Derby car ready for the races!

Lots of tools will be on hand to help sculpt your car to perfection.

Be sure to bring an adult (some tools will need the aid of an adult) and your creativity. A paint booth will be set up. Bring your favorite colors of paint since they’re not provided, and sharing with others is encouraged.

This event is just $5.00 per Scout (this nominal price will help us to keep having this event year after year).

Now Hiring Scoutreach Program Leaders to Serve Youth

What is Scoutreach? Many people’s eyes glaze over when I tell them what I do when they ask me. I’m the Scoutreach program coordinator, but it’s best understood through the phrase “Scouting Plus Outreach Equals Scoutreach.” Please consider joining our movement! We have openings!

The Alamo Area Council is committed to making sure that all youth have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.

The Scoutreach Division is a non-traditional school-based program. Program leaders support units in select schools in the Edgewood ISD, Harlandale ISD, SouthSan ISD, Southwest ISD, and in other schools through partnerships with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, and the Northside Learning Tree program.

Scoutreach Program Leader

The Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council has immediate openings for youth program leaders working within our Scoutreach In-School and After-School programs.  The Scoutreach Division of the Alamo Area Council gives special leadership and emphasis to urban Scouting programs.   Scoutreach is the BSA’s commitment to ensure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances. 

Pay / Schedule 

  • The starting pay is $10.00 per hour.
  • The hours are flexible and range from approximately 12-28 hours per week.
  • Programs are conducted at various locations including Edgewood, South San Antonio, Southwest, Harlandale and Northside school districts.
  • In-School programs are held during school days between 7:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. as part of their PE class.  Sessions run approximately 45 minutes long.
  • After-School programs are held at the elementary schools in partnership with organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, and Learning Tree starting as early as 4:00 p.m. and ending as late as 5:15 p.m. 

Qualifications – All applicants must: 

  • Be at least 21 years of age 
  • Register as a volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America
  • Take Youth Protection Training
  • Pass a background check and be fingerprinted (cost paid by BSA) 
  • Have reliable means of transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s License
