2016 Silver Beaver Recipients Recently Added Content

The Alamo Area Councils Silver Beaver selection committee is honored to announce it has completed the selection of the 2016 Silver Beaver awards. It’s that time of year for the Alamo Area Council's 5th Annual Camp Card Sale and hopefully our best yet. Over the past four years the participating units have sold 226,673 cards and earned OVER $1.1 Million for Scout camping, activities, and Council programs. JUN-JUL: Boy Scout Counselor-In-Training Opportunities

Boy Scouts are needed to fill 50-70 Counselor-In-Training positions during Cub Scout Day Camps at the McGimsey Scout Park.

APR-MAY: In-Person Cub Scout Day Camp Registration Opportunities

Registration for all 2017 Day Camps will be made online; several opportunities for in-person registration are available for those with limited online access. Council Staff will be available at several locations to enter online individual and unit Day Camp registrations. Computers and assistance will be available.

Camperships Available for 2017 Summer Camps

The Alamo Area Council provides Camperships, up to 50% of the Early Bird Registration Fees, for Scouts in need who wish to attend summer camp. Confidential Campership requests may be submitted on line.

JUL: Alamo Area Council Cub Scout Resident Camp

Wolves and Bears, along with a parent, are invited to attend the Second Annual Cub Scout Resident Camp at the Mays Family Scout Ranch. Two sessions will be led by the staff from Bear Creek Boy Scout Summer Camp.

MAY-JUL: 2017 Swim Checks and Lessons

The swim classification of individuals participating in water activities is a key element of the BSA’s Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. Swim classification tests (swim checks) should be renewed annually at the beginning of the outdoor season and are required for any Scout attending Boy Scout Camp. The Alamo Area Council offers swim lessons to Scouts (ages 6+) as well as swim checks.

Do you want to focus some of your Cub Scout's energy towards positive activities? Do you want him to be outdoors and come home dirty and tired? Would you like him to have fun while making friends and developing quality character traits? If you answered "Yes!" to any, or all, of these questions then your Cub Scout needs to attend Day Camp 2017!

APR: Cub Scout Law Enforcement Night with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is sponsoring this free event to provide an opportunity for Cub Scouts to complete rank specific electives. The event is limited to 45 Cub Scouts per rank and will be held at the McGimsey Scout Park Sport Court April 5, 2017, 6-8pm.

MAY: Cub Scouts: Have You Earned the Texas Badge?

The Texas Badge may only be earned by Cub Scouts in Texas. Visit a historical site in Texas then come learn more about our great State.

McGimsey Day Camp 2017 Staff Applications Now Being Accepted

The Alamo Area Council Outdoor Adventure Center is now accepting Cub Scout Day Camp Staff applications for the McGimsey Scout Park. The McGimsey Day Camps will feature a new staff structure in 2017. Boy Scouts and Adults are encouraged to apply. Application Deadline is January 15, 2017.
