Torn between your Unit going Camping and doing Service? Don’t be – you can do BOTH at the same time by coming to February’s Bear Creek Bash!
Bear Creek Bash consists of a work day (Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) during which units are given age-appropriate service projects to enhance and maintain Alamo Area Council’s largest (and arguably most beautiful) Scout Camp! All units (or individuals) have to do is register online (at https://mycouncil.alamoareabsa.org/Event/10601) and come out to Bear Creek! Current plans are to clear and stack brush, improve campsites, and establish / maintain trails. We ask everyone to wear work clothes & gloves and meals are ‘on your own’. Your friendly neighborhood Campmasters will provide water jugs, any tools and supplies needed for project work, and all project instructions / direction.
So, what about camping you ask? Units are invited to camp this whole weekend for FREE – that’s right, if you participate in the work day, you camp all weekend at NO charge! Come up to camp Friday evening (Feb. 21) and depart Sunday morning (Feb. 23)!
As previously mentioned, you’ll need to provide your own meals, but on Saturday evening, all participants are invited to come to a Wiener and Burger Burn at the Eco-Pavilion (in the Valley) – Campmasters will provide all the fixings and grill the hot dogs & hamburgers; we ask that Units bring side dishes and desserts to share!
