Advancement is the process by which youth members of the Boy Scouts of America progress from rank to rank in the Scouting program. A fundamental principal of advancement in Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, and Venturing is the growth a young person achieves as a result of his/her participation in unit programs. For details, visit www.AlamoAreaBSA.org/Advancements or email the Advancement team at Advancements@AlamoAreaBSA.org.
Merit Badges
Merit badges are advancements for Scouts that signify the mastery of certain Scoutcraft skills, as well as serving to increase skill in an area of personal interest. Of the more than 138 merit badges available, twenty-one must be earned to qualify for Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. |
Merit Badge University |
Merit Badge University (MBU) is a one-day event that gives Scouts the opportunity to earn merit badges ranging from recreational activites to Eagle Scout prerequisites.
